TESC Colloquium – Thomas Vaessen

Thursday October 23rd Thomas Vaessen will give a talk entitled “Affective Recovery from Daily-Life Stress in the Early Stages of Mental Illness: Mechanisms and Intervention

Abstract: Increased affective reactivity to daily-life stress is associated with psychopathology. However, affective reactivity measured with the experience sampling method may instead reflect delayed affective recovery. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that affective recovery takes longer in individuals in early stages of mental illness, and that emotion regulation strategies influence the recovery process. Ecological momentary interventions may be effective in targeting stress recovery.
